Sew Some Love Sunday - Something New {and the PULSE Display, too!}

Welcome to another edition of Sew Some Love Sunday!!  This week, I found another new-to-me charity and thought I'd share it with you.

Made with my two hands did a quilt for Hope Homes International another charity to add to the list.  If it speaks to you, by all means, make a quilt to share!

The second portion of this edition of Sew Some Love Sunday is to share another bit of QuiltCon East 2017 with you all.

The PULSE display - since I only gave you an overview last week:

About the project:

Estimates of materials used:

A collection of photos of the 1700+ quilts that were made:

So many different takes on the Heart Quilt:

So many ways to portray a rainbow:

SO many ways to share the quilty love:

SO many (wonderful) different quilting designs:

My friend Britt and I made several laps around the display to see if we could spot either of the two quilts that were sent by our groups:

There were SO many quilt photos that it was an impossible task!!

Members from the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild were on hand to share their appreciation for all the quilters worldwide who participated in this outreach project in response to the PULSE shootings.  Because of the generous support, the guild was able to expand the scope of this project WAY beyond original plans.

My friends and I missed the PULSE Meet-Up, but later learned that the Guild's first concern was of simply offering comfort to the survivors.  Response from the quilting community allowed them to include victims' families and then first responders who were on the scene or in the hospitals at the time of the shootings.  There were enough quilts to share with the 911 operators and others involved.

Orlando Modern played to members strengths in getting the PULSE Quilt heart blocks made into quilts.  They made up a variety of kits.  Members could take complete quilt kits (everything needed to make a quilt), partial kits (adding more blocks or border fabrics), volunteer to quilt the quilts (on domestic machines or longarms), volunteer to bind the quilts (by hand or machine), or volunteer to deliver the quilts.  Many members opted for multiple kits and did a variety of other jobs.

Thank YOU, Orlando Modern Quilt Guild, for the call to action! And from the Guild... if YOU were involved in any way, I'm passing along their thanks. It's good to do good and, let me tell you, quilters really ROCK at doing good!!

Linking up with Kat on Wednesday.  Stop by to see some other charitable works being done.

Until next time...
Sew Some Love!!!
